Fidelity CFD offers a consistent and extremely efficient workflow for turbomachinery - from geometry preparation to meshing and evaluation. With Fidelity® Autogrid, even complex turbomachinery including cavities or non-axisymmetric end-wall contouring can be mapped with high-quality structured grids within minutes. The seamless combination with unstructured grids as well as the selection of powerful flow solvers enables a fast and at the same time very precise prediction of map data. For us, Fidelity CFD is a central tool in our daily development work.
Fidelity® enables us to create high-quality meshes quickly and reliably, especially for impellers. We particularly like the fact that the workflow for geometry changes is easily semi-automated. In the further development of Fidelity®, we see that our wishes and suggestions are taken into account. Fidelity® Hexpress Hybrid impresses with its robustness and reliability. The software is fast and enables efficient networking, even with very difficult geometries. Thanks to its automation and scriptability, it can be seamlessly integrated into our workflow. It is rounded off by its high level of user-friendliness: it is intuitive to use and very easy to learn. Finally, I would particularly like to emphasize the support from Numeca Ingenieurbüro, which is always quick, competent and friendly when we have questions.
What we particularly appreciate about Fidelity® is the modern user interface and the flexible automation capability via Python, which makes our day-to-day work in the fluid mechanical design of turbocharger components much easier. The tools used to set up and carry out or optimize flow simulations are characterized by a very high degree of flexibility and robustness, which we have often been able to use to confirm our experiments very well, especially in the field of centrifugal compressors. For years, Simuneer (formerly Numeca Ingenieurbüro) has been a cornerstone of our engineering work. Thanks to their highly flexible CFD software and their exceptionally responsive and competent support team, we can solve complex hydrodynamic and aerodynamic challenges in new build projects, retrofits and daily fleet operations safely and efficiently.
We have been using the block-structured mesh generator Fidelity® Autogrid for many years for the fluidic investigation of multi-stage gas and steam turbine blades. The entire range of functionalities such as radial gaps, seals, tappings and cavities are used here. Thanks to the excellent automation capability, we use scripting to quickly and stably generate computational meshes of the highest quality, which is an important prerequisite for the effective and robust use of CFD. The Numeca Ingenieurbüro support team is always on hand to provide competent and committed assistance.
Fidelity®: Numeca's mesher and solver are known for their very good mesh quality and realistic simulation results, as well as the high efficiency of the solvers. Especially for small companies that cannot invest in clusters, the resulting time savings are of great advantage. Support: As a customer, you feel that you are taken seriously and well supported. Instead of being trapped in an anonymous hotline with long waiting times and various loops to define the problem, the engineering office responds to inquiries or problems very quickly and professionally. For almost a decade, the outstanding support provided by the Numeca engineering office for the Chair of Turbomachinery and Flight Propulsion has been a key driver of innovative cutting-edge research. Thanks to the powerful and reliable Fidelity® Autogrid, Hexpress, Turbo and Open software environments, even the most complex meshing and sophisticated CFD simulations can be implemented efficiently and robustly. Through our collaboration, we are continuously opening up new technological possibilities and driving forward the development of novel aerodynamic compressor concepts.
Particularly noteworthy are the successful design of new blade geometries and the comprehensive numerical support of the measurement campaigns on our compressor test benches. With the tools from Cadence and the support of the Numeca engineering office, a highly loaded compressor blade was developed for the FRANCC test bench, which is currently being successfully tested as impressive proof of the innovative strength of this collaboration.
